Tawnya Marney Earns Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) Certification
The Houston real estate agent adds the RENE credential to 13 years in real estate and 20 years in corporate procurement.
HOUSTON, TX, November 1, 2026 – Tawnya Marney of Tawnya Sells Houston with R.E.D. Real Estate Driven has earned the Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) certification. She completed the program through the Real Estate Business Institute (REBI) on October 28, 2026, and received the certification on October 31, 2026. The certification recognizes advanced training in negotiation strategy for real estate transactions, and it adds to the more than 30 years of negotiation experience Marney has built across two careers.

What the RENE certification is
The Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) certification is an advanced credential for real estate professionals who complete specialized training in negotiation. The coursework covers how to prepare for a negotiation, read the other side’s priorities, structure terms beyond price, and reach agreements that protect a client’s interests. Marney also earned her Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) designation through REBI.
More than 30 years of negotiation experience
Marney spent 20 years in corporate procurement, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers before she was licensed as a Texas real estate agent in November 2013. She has now worked in real estate for 13 years. She describes the RENE certification as a capstone to that experience rather than a starting point.
“I spent 20 years negotiating contracts in corporate procurement before I ever wrote an offer. RENE gave me a formal framework for what I already do for my clients, and it sharpened how I plan each negotiation.”
How the RENE certification helps buyers
Negotiation for buyers goes well beyond the purchase price. Buyers working with Marney benefit from a negotiator who looks at the full structure of a deal: closing cost contributions, interest rate buydowns, repairs, option period terms, and incentives. On a new construction purchase, Marney negotiated with the builder to cover 100% of her client’s closing costs and permanently buy down the client’s loan interest rate. She also secured a builder bonus and passed it along to the client to reduce the purchase price.
How the RENE certification helps sellers
For sellers, negotiation starts with pricing and preparation and continues through every offer and counteroffer. Marney represented a Houston seller who received interest from multiple investors. She negotiated among the investors to raise the offer price and secure better closing terms for her client. The same approach applies to price adjustment conversations, multiple offer situations, and sales involving probate, relocation, or a move-up or move-down.
Serving Houston buyers and sellers
Marney works with clients across Houston, with a focus on Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, the Heights, and Montrose, as well as the Clear Lake and Bay Area corridor. She also works with international buyers relocating to or investing in Houston.
